Barcelona Home and Away Kits

Well Nike has taken the wraps off of their home and away jerseys for Barcelona.  Let’s start with what was sure to be an ode to what may be the hottest summer on record, Nike has opted for a bright orange and yellow kit. The color combination is described by Nike as, ‘a celebration of the club’s effervescent style of play’.  I happen to like this jersey although I still don’t care for the logo on the front of the shirt.  Mostly because of Barca’s tradition but also because I think the logo design is just boring.

The home kit is a nice update to the current jersey and is more evolution than revolution. I am sure these will be flying off of the shelves.

Nike Clash Collection Boots

Nike is debuting the Nike Clash Collection to celebrate the football on offer this summer with the 2012 Euro’s taking center stage.  Players from Wayne Rooney to Gerard Pique will be wearing these boots that are sure to stand out.

Nike’s Mercurial Vapor VIII, CTR360 Maestri II, T90 Laser IV and Tiempo Legend IV boots will feature a color clash design of traditional white with a bold second color signifying each boots style to stand out on pitch.

Nike ‘My Time Is Now’

What a stunning new ad by Nike.  Not only does it serve up the usual flicks and tricks that you come to expect but it takes it a step farther by allowing you to go down various ‘tunnels’ and see some of your favorite players’ insights about wanting to succeed.  Also, if you go down the tunnel make sure you choose the Nike Vapors.  It takes you to an old school Sonic the Hedgehog game with a soccer twist!

Manchester United and DHL Delivers Van Full of Soccer Balls

Manchester United and their training kit sponsor DHL teamed up to deliver 200+ soccer balls to local children in Kenya.  United players Park, Nani, Chris Smalling, and Johnny Evans helped load the DHL van up as only soccer players can.  Then United alums Andy Cole and Quinton Fortune helped the kids in Kenya unload the van in Kenya.

Villareal Relegated from La Liga

In a story that I have failed to follow this season, it was brought to my attention that Villareal has been relegated from La Liga.  This is the same Villareal that finished 4th last season and finished as runner up to Real Madrid in the 2007/2008 season, finishing with 10 points higher than Barcelona that year.

Villareal has a number of quality players that I am sure will be sold this summer including Guiseppi Rossi, Carlos Marchena, Borja Valero, and Marcos Senna.

Manchester City Wins English Premier League

What a season this has been!  This is hands down one of the best finishes to an EPL season since the damn thing started!  It was looking like City had their hands on the title after they went up 1-0 against QPR.  Then in a flash they were down 2-1 with Manchester United winning 1-0 away to Sunderland.  But City, as they have all season, found a way to pull out the win with 2 stoppage time goals ensuring that they claimed their first league title in 44 years.

At the opposite end of the table Bolton, Blackburn, and Wolves were relegated.
